I’m the administrative and communications pastor at First Baptist Church of Fairbury, a town of about four thousand people in central Illinois. In practice that means the bulletin, the sermon slides, the podcast, the weekly email, the volunteer schedules, the church app and the website. One person, every week, whether the week cooperates or not.
A while back I got tired of retyping the same information into four different systems, so I started handing the mechanical parts off to Claude. Not the writing that needs a person, and nothing to do with actual people. Just the copying. Everything on this page came out of doing that, including the parts that went wrong first.
I’m blessed to be married to my best friend, and we have four daughters who keep us busy. All of this came out of a love for the church and a love for discipleship. Handing off the mechanical work is what creates the time for that in my schedule.
